PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the 34.5-km Kaziranga Elevated Corridor along NH-715 on January 18, 2026, during his Assam visit. The project, costing approximately ₹6,950 crore, will ensure uninterrupted wildlife movement and reduce animal deaths from highway traffic, especially during the annual Brahmaputra flood-driven migration.

The corridor will restore ecological connectivity between Kaziranga's floodplains and the Karbi Anglong hills. Complementary works include widening 30.22 km of existing roads and constructing 2-km flyovers near Bokakhat and Jakhalabandha. This is one of India's most ambitious wildlife-friendly infrastructure projects and serves as a model for mitigating human-wildlife conflict on national highways.
