India topped the medal standings at the 17th Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026, held in New Delhi from February 2–14, 2026, with a total of 94 medals — 51 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze. The championship was organised by the Asian Shooting Confederation and featured 311 shooters from 20 countries competing across senior and junior categories in rifle and pistol events.

Two-time Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar delivered the standout performance of the championship by setting a new world record of 362.0 points in the Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. Amanpreet Singh won gold in the 25m Centre Fire Pistol, and Sift Kaur Samra claimed silver in Women's 50m Rifle Prone. India's overall haul of 51 gold medals demonstrated the depth and breadth of the country's shooting infrastructure developed under the TOPS (Target Olympic Podium Scheme) and SAI (Sports Authority of India) programmes.

For Rajasthan, the state has produced several national-level shooters backed by Rajasthan State Sports Council facilities in Jaipur and Udaipur. India's dominance in Asian shooting is a reflection of improved training ecosystems, increased investment in coaching, and policy support under the Khelo India mission.
