Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on September 13, 2025, for a two-day visit to Assam during which he launched development projects worth ₹18,530 crore. The visit included the Bhupen Hazarika centenary celebrations and major infrastructure inaugurations.

Key projects include: foundation stone of Darrang Medical College (₹567 crore), a new bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Narengi to Kuruwa (₹1,200 crore), Guwahati Ring Road (₹4,500 crore), and inauguration of India's first bamboo-based bio-refinery at Numaligarh (₹7,200 crore). The bio-refinery will process 3 lakh tonnes of bamboo annually, producing ethanol, furfural, acetic acid, and green energy.
