India clinched their maiden ICC Women's Cricket World Cup on November 2, 2025, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Shafali Verma scored 87 off 78 balls as India posted 298/7 in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt scored 101 but the team was bowled out for 246 in 45.3 overs.

Deepti Sharma was the standout performer, taking 5/39 to seal the historic victory and finishing as the tournament's top wicket-taker with three half-centuries. She was named Player of the Tournament. PM Modi congratulated the team, calling it a 'historic moment for Indian women's cricket'. The tournament was held across India and Sri Lanka from September 30.
