On October 15, 2025, Commonwealth Sport announced that its bid evaluation commission recommended Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games — the centenary edition of the Games. Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya hailed the recommendation, calling it 'a huge moment for Indian sports'. Ahmedabad was selected over Abuja, Nigeria, in the final evaluation.

This will be India's second time hosting the Commonwealth Games after New Delhi in 2010. The Games are planned for October 2030, with 15-17 sports expected to feature, including T20 cricket. The formal ratification by all 74 Commonwealth member nations was scheduled for November 26, 2025, at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow. Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium — the world's largest cricket ground — is expected to be a centrepiece venue.
