Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stones and inaugurated multiple development projects worth over Rs 9,000 crore at Aizawl, Mizoram, and over Rs 8,500 crore in Manipur during his Northeast visit in September 2025. The Mizoram projects covered railways, roadways, energy and sports, while the Manipur package included urban roads, drainage and asset-management works, national highway projects, the Manipur Infotech Development project and working women's hostels.

The flagship Mizoram project was the 51.38 km Bairabi-Sairang new rail line, worth over Rs 8,070 crore, which connected Mizoram's capital to the Indian Railways network for the first time. The line was built in difficult hilly terrain and has 45 tunnels, 55 major bridges and 88 minor bridges. The 45 km Aizawl Bypass Road, worth over Rs 500 crore under PM-DevINE, is intended to decongest Aizawl and improve connectivity to Lunglei, Siaha, Lawngtlai, Lengpui Airport and Sairang railway station. The projects support the Northeast connectivity focus linked to the Act East Policy and the emerging North East Economic Corridor.
