On November 19, 2025, during the South India Natural Farming Summit in Coimbatore, Prime Minister Modi released the 21st installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring ₹18,000 crore directly to the bank accounts of farmers across India. Launched in 2019, PM-KISAN provides ₹6,000 per year (in three equal installments of ₹2,000) directly to all eligible landholding farmer families, subject to scheme exclusions. The cumulative direct benefit transfer (DBT) under PM-KISAN has now reached ₹4 lakh crore. The PM emphasised natural farming as the sustainable future of Indian agriculture — reducing dependence on chemical inputs, lowering farming costs, improving soil microbiome health, and providing farmers with chemical-free produce that fetches better market prices. The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) supports cluster-based organic and natural farming. India aims to bring 1 crore hectares under natural farming under the National Mission for Natural Farming (NMNF) launched in 2023. Rajasthan, with a total geographical area of about 3.42 crore hectares and significant small and marginal farmer population, is a key focus state for both PM-KISAN delivery and natural farming promotion.
