Union Minister C.R. Patil inaugurated a new office of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) at West Block II, R.K. Puram, New Delhi. A revamped NDSA website featuring a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based 'Specified Dams' section was also launched, providing a map-based interface with key information on dams across India.

India has over 6,000 large dams, making dam safety a critical concern. The NDSA was established under the Dam Safety Act, 2021 to implement national dam safety policies, recommend technical standards, and conduct investigations into dam failures. The GIS section provides map-based dam information, while NETRA and Rashtriya Bandh Suraksha Darpan support faster review of dam-safety data and improved risk assessment.
