Introduction and Syllabus Scope
Syllabus Placement and Examiner Expectations
The RPSC 2026 Mains syllabus places economic indicators under Paper I, Unit 2 (Economics), Part C. The scope is explicitly Rajasthan-centric: the examiner expects knowledge of how standard macroeconomic indicators apply to Rajasthan's economic reality and planning framework. Key indicators include Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), per capita income, and indices of inclusive development.
This topic is a Tier 5 / New-Gap topic: it has never appeared in RAS Mains (2013, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2023). Its inclusion in the 2026 revised syllabus reflects RPSC's shift toward contemporary governance and development concepts alongside the state government's Viksit Rajasthan 2047 agenda. The 2026 exam is the first under the revised syllabus, making this topic an exam risk worth preparing thoroughly.
Five Sub-topics Covered
The chapter covers five distinct but interconnected sub-topics:
- SDP / GSDP: measurement methodology, nominal vs. real, sectoral and district-level data
- Per capita income: definition, Rajasthan trends, district disparities
- Inclusive growth: conceptual framework, MPI, welfare schemes
- Viksit Rajasthan 2047: 10 Sankalps, $350 billion economy target, Rising Rajasthan Summit
- SDGs: 17 goals, India/Rajasthan performance, institutional mechanism
What Falls Outside This Topic
Fiscal policy and taxation are covered in Topic #32. Agricultural productivity in depth is in Topic #33. Industrial policy details are in Topic #34. The examiner here is testing conceptual understanding of indicators, not just rote statistics.
