CORE PM Surya Ghar and household-energy support
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is the clean-energy scheme most likely to be tested as a number cluster. The Union Cabinet approved it on 29 February 2024 with a total outlay of Rs.75,021 crore, a target of one crore rooftop-solar households, and up to 300 units of free electricity every month. It links household subsidy, vendor selection through a national portal, and local distribution-company readiness. Rajasthan matters because high solar radiation in districts such as Jodhpur, Bikaner and Barmer makes rooftop adoption a state-level energy-security issue, not only a national subsidy item. The examinable detail is not the subsidy alone. A question may combine the Cabinet date, the one-crore household target, the 300-unit benefit and the electricity-distribution link. Rajasthan also gives a strong map association: rooftop systems in Jaipur and Jodhpur differ from utility-scale solar parks in Jaisalmer and Bikaner, so do not merge household subsidy with solar-park infrastructure.
