REET Level 1 study notes

NCF 2005 and NCF-Foundational Stage for Primary

For REET Level 1, NCF 2005 is still important for child-centred, constructivist, inclusive and activity-based pedagogy, but primary teachers must now read it with NCF-FS 2022 and NEP 2020. NCF-FS 2022 covers ages 3-8, the first stage of the 5+3+3+4 structure, and makes play, activity, inquiry, local language and observation central for preschool to Grade 2. NIPUN Bharat adds the Grade 3 FLN target by 2026-27. In the exam, connect policy language to classroom actions: concrete material, conversation, inclusion, observation, CCE, and RTE Section 29.

Key points

  • RBSE L1 CDP literally names NCF 2005, assessment, CCE, action research and RTE Act 2009.
  • NCF-FS 2022 is the current foundational-stage curriculum frame for children aged 3-8.
  • NEP 2020 reorganises school education as 5+3+3+4; the first five years form the foundational stage.
  • NCF 2005 remains useful for constructivism, learning without burden, inclusion and local knowledge.
  • NCF-FS 2022 expects flexible, multilevel, play-based, activity-based and inquiry-based learning.
  • NIPUN Bharat was launched on 5 July 2021 and targets Grade 3 FLN by 2026-27.
  • RTE Section 29 links curriculum with activity, discovery, mother tongue, fear-free expression and CCE.
  • REET traps confuse NCF 2005 with the current foundational frame, or confuse play with recreation.
