REET Level 1 study notes
Inclusive Education at the Primary Stage
Inclusive education at the primary stage means planning Class 1 to 5 teaching so that children with different abilities, languages, backgrounds, pace, disability, family situations and confidence levels learn together with dignity. For REET, the topic is anchored in the RBSE CDP lines on diverse learners, learning difficulties, adjustment, teacher role, CCE and RTE 2009. The early fact block is NEP 2020's 5+3+3+4 structure, NCF-FS 2022's play and activity based foundational stage for ages 3 to 8, and RTE sections 12, 13, 24, 25, 28 and 29.
Key points
- RBSE anchors the topic through diverse learners, learning difficulties, adjustment, teacher role, CCE and RTE 2009.
- Inclusive education is participation with planned support, not merely admission or sympathy.
- NEP 2020's 5+3+3+4 structure makes early inclusion part of the foundational stage.
- NCF-FS 2022 supports child-paced, play and activity based learning for ages 3 to 8.
- RTE Section 29 links child-friendly activity, discovery, mother tongue where practicable, fear-free expression and CCE.
- A good teacher response names the barrier, changes the material or response path, and preserves dignity.
- MCQ traps often confuse equal worksheet with equity, admission with participation, and CCE with frequent written tests.
- At least one classroom example should include disability, gender fairness, family diversity or home-language diversity.
