REET Level 1 study notes
CCE and Formative Assessment for Primary Classes
CCE in REET Level 1 means continuous, comprehensive classroom assessment that helps the primary teacher improve learning, not merely record final marks. The RBSE CDP syllabus explicitly lists assessment, measurement, evaluation, CCE and achievement test construction. RTE Section 29 links curriculum and evaluation with comprehensive and continuous evaluation of understanding, knowledge and application. For Classes 1-2, NCF-FS 2022 makes observation and artefact analysis central; for Classes 3-5, written tasks can grow but should stay low-stakes and feedback-based.
Key points
- RBSE anchors the topic through assessment, measurement, evaluation, CCE and achievement test construction.
- RTE Section 29(2)(h) names comprehensive and continuous evaluation of understanding, knowledge and application.
- Assessment collects learning evidence; measurement gives a number; evaluation makes a criterion-based judgment.
- Formative assessment happens during learning and changes the next teaching step.
- CCE is continuous across time and comprehensive across learning and development domains.
- NCF-FS 2022 treats observation and artefact analysis as the two broad foundational-stage methods.
- NEP 2020's 5+3+3+4 frame puts Classes 1-2 inside the foundational stage, so assessment must be low-pressure.
- Good MCQ answers use evidence, feedback, inclusion and light records; weak options rank, label or over-test children.
