Folk deities and shared worship

Rajasthan's folk-deity tradition is an exam-relevant way of reading society, not only religion. Folk deities are remembered as protectors of cattle, camels, horses, villages, vows and honour. Their memory lives through temples, fairs, oral narratives, phad painting, bhopa-bhopi performance and local pilgrimage routes. The usual Panchpir grouping taught for Rajasthan culture includes Pabuji, Gogaji, Ramdevji, Tejaji and Harbhuji. The word "pir" itself is useful for CET because it points to the shared vocabulary of rural devotion rather than a neat textbook divide between communities.

Pabuji is linked with Kolu village in the Phalodi region. Rajasthan Tourism identifies Kolu as the site of Pabuji's temple and notes the fair held there on Chaitra Amavasya. In study notes, keep Pabuji with camel and livestock protection and with Pabuji ri Phad, the painted-scroll performance tradition. Gogaji is best remembered through Gogamedi in Hanumangarh; the official tourism page calls him the God of Snakes and notes that people of all faiths visit during the Gogamedi festival. Ramdevji belongs with Ramdevra near Pokhran in Jaisalmer district, a shrine visited by people of all faiths. Tejaji is linked with the Nagaur region and with the popular belief of cattle protection and snakebite relief. Harbhuji or Hadbuji is localised more strongly in western Rajasthan; the Phalodi tourism page places his temple at Bangti village and describes him as a folk deity, saint and cow protector.

For CET, make three-column recall: deity, place, function. Pabuji-Kolu-camel/livestock, Gogaji-Gogamedi-snake faith, Ramdevji-Ramdevra-shared devotion, Tejaji-Nagaur/cattle-snakebite, Harbhuji-western Rajasthan/cow-protection. This is more reliable than memorising long legends without geography.
