Ancient Janpad Roots

The Rajsamand region was close to Madhyamika and formed part of the Sibis or Shivis Janpad before later coming under Malva influence.

Maurya Rule Record

Inscriptions from Chittaur mention that the region was ruled by a Maurya ruler until as late as the 8th century AD.

Old Administrative Units

Before 1940, the area of present Rajsamand formed part of Khamnor, Bhim and Kumbhalgarh districts and the thikanas of Nathdwara, Kankroli, Amet, Sardargarh and Deogarh.

Kumbha Golden Age

The DCHB identifies Maharana Kumbha's period as a golden period of Mewar and says he constructed several forts including Kumbhalgarh.

Rajsamand Lake Origin

Maharana Pratap Circuit

Rajsamand anchors the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit, a 100 crore rupee heritage-tourism initiative announced by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Maharana Pratap Jayanti in June 2024. The circuit links Kumbhalgarh Fort, Haldighati, the Maharana Pratap Smarak and the Pratap Gaurav Kendra, and a 275.68 crore rupee Detailed Project Report was approved by the Rajasthan Heritage Authority in February 2026 to fund pathways, interpretation and visitor amenities at these sites.

Khushi Anganwadi

Hindustan Zinc's Khushi Anganwadi programme, run as a tri-partite public-private-people partnership, covers Anganwadi centres in select blocks of Rajsamand alongside Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh and Udaipur, with a target of 3,055 centres in the cluster. In FY 2023-24 the company built 1,491 new Nand Ghar buildings across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, benefiting more than 2.5 lakh women and children with early-childhood care, nutrition and digital learning.

Rajsamand benefits from Hindustan Zinc's Shiksha Sambal flagship education programme, which since 2007 has supplied subject teachers, summer camps and Unchi Udaan IIT-JEE coaching to more than 64 government schools across Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Ajmer and Udaipur districts. The same Vedanta CSR umbrella also runs Sakhi self-help groups, which have benefited over 27,485 women and operate twelve women-led production units selling pickles, spices and textiles under the Upaya brand.
