District formation

Dausa district was constituted on 10 April 1991 by transferring Baswa, Lalsot, Dausa and Sikrai tehsils from Jaipur district.

Mahwa tehsil addition

Mahwa tehsil of Sawai Madhopur district was included in Dausa district on 14 August 1992.

Dausa is situated in the region historically known as Dundhar.
