India will host the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting in Hyderabad on 15 and 16 July 2026. Ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries will participate. The meeting is one of the major ministerial-level engagements under India's BRICS presidency in 2026 and will be chaired by Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya.
The ministerial meeting follows the third BRICS Employment Working Group meeting, held in Hyderabad on 13 and 14 July 2026. At that meeting, member countries shared national experiences and best practices across four priority areas. These are expanding social security and formalising labour markets; increasing women's participation and inclusion in the workforce; cooperating on employability, skill mapping and skill development; and using digital technologies for all workers, including gig and platform workers.
Ministers will consider these priorities and exchange approaches ranging from social-security reforms and labour-formalisation strategies to skill initiatives and inclusive models for platform-based work. The working group has completed discussion on a draft declaration, which will be placed before the ministers for consideration and adoption at the ministerial meeting.
The Hyderabad meeting provides a forum for continued BRICS dialogue on shared labour-market and employment challenges. Its discussions seek practical, readily adoptable policy measures that can keep labour markets inclusive, adaptable and responsive to changing economic and technological conditions. Continued dialogue and knowledge-sharing are expected to support decent work, wider social-security coverage, skill development, and preparation of the workforce for future opportunities and challenges.
