RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra launched the 6th Digital Payments Awareness Week (DPAW) on March 9, 2026, running until March 13. The pilot 'Awareness Program on Digital Payments' was also launched alongside a multi-media campaign titled 'Thoda Dhyan Se' (Be Alert/Be Careful) promoting safe digital transaction practices among citizens.

The initiative aims to expand financial inclusion by educating rural and semi-urban populations on safe use of UPI, NEFT, RTGS, and other digital payment modes, while addressing rising concerns about digital payment frauds. India processed over 16.6 billion UPI transactions in February 2026.
