The Government of Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with IndiaAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), hosted the Uttar Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 in Lucknow on 12-13 January 2026. The conference is one of eight Regional AI Impact Conferences organised under the IndiaAI framework and serves as a precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026 scheduled in New Delhi at Bharat Mandapam from 16 to 20 February 2026. On 12 January 2026 the IndiaAI Working Group on AI for Economic Growth and Social Good convened in Lucknow in a hybrid format, jointly led by MeitY, IndiaAI and the state government. Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal addressed the sessions. Conference sessions examined the global AI landscape, AI-driven healthcare delivery, state-level readiness and capacity building, digital public infrastructure for health, AI-enabled diagnostics and clinical innovation, and workforce empowerment. Uttar Pradesh also unveiled plans for an AI City at Lucknow and highlighted the elimination of encephalitis deaths in the state from 1,200-1,500 annual fatalities across 38 districts to zero, attributing gains to digital public infrastructure and AI-assisted surveillance. Panel sessions covered digital public infrastructure, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission integration, cybercrime prevention and rural AI deployment. Under the IndiaAI Mission, 62 AI and data labs were announced, and the IndiaAI Mission and the Government of Uttar Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding to operationalise AI infrastructure across the state.
