Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (MBRAPP) in Banswara, Rajasthan, on September 25, 2025. The project comprises four units of indigenously designed 700 MW Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR), with a total capacity of 2,800 MW and an estimated cost of ₹42,000 crore.

MBRAPP is being implemented by Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Limited (ASHVINI), a joint venture of NPCIL and NTPC Ltd — making it the first nuclear power project in India set up by a JV of two Central Public Sector Enterprises. The project is part of India's 'fleet mode' initiative where ten identical 700 MW reactors are being built across India. PM Modi also launched feeder-level solarization projects worth ₹16,050 crore (3,517 MW capacity) and three power transmission projects worth ₹13,180 crore in Rajasthan.
