Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the year-long commemoration of 150 years of the national song 'Vande Mataram' on November 7, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. The song was composed by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Navami, November 7, 1875, first appearing in the journal Bangadarshan and later in his novel Anandamath.

The PM released a Commemorative Stamp and Coin. Mass singing of Vande Mataram was organised at 10:00 AM across all States/UTs, Union Ministries, and offices, synchronized with the inaugural ceremony. The celebration runs from November 7, 2025 to November 7, 2026, featuring performances, exhibitions, and short films highlighting the song's role in India's freedom movement.
