Prime Minister Modi visited Manipur on September 13, 2025, for the first time since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023 between the Meitei majority and Kuki community, which killed at least 260 people. He inaugurated 17 projects worth over ₹1,200 crore in Imphal and laid foundation stones for projects worth ₹7,300 crore at Churachandpur.

At Kangla Fort in Imphal, Modi announced 7,000 new homes for conflict-displaced families. Projects included a new civil secretariat, police headquarters in Mantripukhri, Manipur Infotech Development Project, four Ima (mothers') markets, and Manipur Bhavans in Delhi and Kolkata.
